Northern Minnesota was Shirley Adams’ home for the first 10 years of her life.
Born into a wonderful Christian family, she realized as a child her need to be reconciled
with God through the sacrifice of Christ and responded. It was not until high school
that she gained the assurance of her salvation and was baptized.
Her parents moved their six children to Arizona for the specific purpose of providing
Christian Education for each one. While in high school her church youth sponsor
led a group of young people on a trip to Mexico. This led her to surrender and a
newfound trust in the Lord’s plan for her life. While being a missionary had
never been of any interest to her before, the Lord opened her heart to this very
possibility and it was only a couple years later that she was in Mexico serving
as a missionary. She has now completed more than forty years in Mexico and testifies
that He indeed does “beyond what we could ever ask or think."
It was through Shirley’s sister who is a CBS Teaching Director in Wichita,
Kansas, that she became acquainted with the ministry of Community Bible Study International
in 2002. Shortly after being trained for the ministry she began a class in Guadalajara,
Mexico. Subsequently she was invited to served as the Mexico National Director,
then also as Area Regional Director for Spanish-speaking countries. In 2010, she
accepted the call to become the CBSI Regional Director for North & Central America
and the Caribbean, and in 2011 became the Regional Director of a region spanning
both North and South America: The Americas. She considers it a privilege to serve
in this godly ministry and to be a part of what God is doing to bring a people unto
himself in this region.
Three married children, two daughters and a son, along with their husbands and wife,
and a total of five grandchildren are the joy and blessing of her life.
