Jason and Lisa Bye
Jason and Lisa have a tremendous heart for Africans, specifically the country of
Burkina Faso. Burkina is one of CBSI's newly opened countries and Jason and Lisa
have committed to helping the leadership grow, new classes being trained and the
ministry becoming self-sustaining.

Burundi & Kenya
John and Lynn Axelson
Discipleship and cross cultural outreach have been major interests of ours for
several years. Planning for retirement from my medical practice has been an impetus
to pursue these interests. Lynn has been a Teaching Director for CBS the past 12
years, and through CBS, we were introduced to CBSI whose goal is to see "everyone
in the world ... in the Word." Our local church efforts in Burundi gave us
a clearer picture of what to do and where to go. We have been Calebs to Burundi
since November 2010, and first travelled to Burundi in February 2011. During that
visit we were also given the opportunity to offer CBSI in Nairobi, Kenya, adding
a second country to our partnership efforts and responsibilities. We plan to visit
Burundi and Kenya regularly to work with and to support our national leaders in
developing and maturing the CBSI efforts in their countries. We have a great team
and look forward to working together to see "lives transformed by the Word
of God."
Frances and Gene
Mozambique
Gene and Frances Shackelford
Gene and Frances have been involved with CBSI in Mozambique since its beginning
in 2000. Since those initial classes in the capital city of Maputo the ministry
has spread to 200 classes in 5 other provinces in the country. Two other provinces
will be added in 2010. CBSI has had a major impact in the very rural “bush”
areas where ancestral worship is the major religion. The Mozambican CBSI leadership
have taken an active role in shaping the content and format of lesson structure
in response to the needs of the various groups from educated literate classes in
urban areas to barely literate groups in the bush. It has been a great investment
of their retirement years to have had the joy of witnessing firsthand the life changing
power of the light of the Word of God in dark areas.
Debbie and Paul
Rwanda
Debbie and Paul Annett
Debbie and Paul were trained in 2009 and are Calebs to
Rwanda. They work with the Rwandan CBSI leadership, shepherding
the leaders and providing council, adn they also help to train new class leaders.
By the end of 2011, the goal is to have 10,000 Rwandans in CBSI Bible studies.
Stacey Davis
Tanzania
Stacey Davis
Stacey started working in Tanzania, Africa, with Vision Trust. Seeing how much CBSI
materials could help in Tanzania, she became a Caleb in 2010 so that children and
adults could have the CBSI materials to be able to study the Bible for themselves.
She has a huge heart for the Tanzanian people, and has been instrumental in CBSI
starting in that country.
