New Zealand Active Calebs Other CBSI Activity Peter Hanscamp Regional Director for Asia-Pacific Growing up the son of missionaries, Peter placed his faith in Jesus Christ at age 17, and soon after relocated to New Zealand. There Peter met his wife, Mathilde; they have two adult children. In 1974 the Lord spoke to Peter about becoming involved in fulltime Christian service: first as a part-time Bible teacher and Christian bookshop owner, then as pastor of Tamaki Community Church in Auckland. In 1990, Peter and Mathilde’s church sent them out as missionaries. Since then Peter and his wife have been working in Asia – mainly teaching God’s Word. Mathilde discovered CBSI in 1997, and introduced Peter to Earl Reeves who was the Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Region. Before long, Peter succeeded Reeves as Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Region. Bible Study Class Info
The largest of the CBSI regions is the Asia - Pacific, both in terms of area and of population. The challenge to get "everyone in the world … in the Word" is therefore particularly great for us. The Bible tells us that the "earth is the Lord's and its fullness" and we claim that statement for our 'little' corner of the harvest. One third of the world's surface area and almost half the world's population. So far, we have work going on in 13 of the 30+ countries in the region. Translation has started in more than 8 languages, of the hundreds spoken. In order to expand the number of countries to 15, we aim to start English language, ex-pat classes in all the major cities. The English language is a great draw-card for many Asians, and we expect that as nationals of a country are ministered to by the study of the Bible, they will want to share it with their fellow countrymen. People's hearts can only be changed by the Lord and we expect that He will use His Word and the CBSI studies to do just that in the Asia - Pacific. We would like your help in doing that. Help in terms of participation in classes, prayer for class members, financial help and making yourself available through the Caleb Connection.
