CBS International 2008: Vision for Life-Change through God’s Word
Have you noticed that the buzzword for 2008 is CHANGE? Everyone is talking about CHANGE and who is the best qualified to bring about change in our world today.
The Bible tells us the only one able to bring about lasting life change is the Lord Jesus Christ.
In the 1970’s, God changed our lives as we began studying God’s Word in an in-depth Bible Study. Jesus Christ became our Savior and Lord, and it is an exciting story of life transformation through the power of the Word. We began to say “I think I could give my life to helping people study the Word of God for themselves, because THAT is how a disciple of Jesus Christ can really grow.”
The CBS International Mission Statement is the same as that of Community Bible Study, “Making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in our communities through caring, in-depth Bible study, available to all.”
We would like to share our seven point vision for fulfilling that mission statement.
Our CBSI vision is:
1. To see CBSI become a national ministry that is self-sustained, self-directed & self-funded by nationals. As a result, the nationals who became disciples of Jesus Christ through CBSI would be the ones making disciples of Jesus Christ among their own people, in their own language, in their own culture.
2. To provide culturally relevant, dynamically equivalent translations of CBSI studies so class members can study the Word of God in their own soul language and become mature disciples of Jesus Christ.
3. To help every CBSI Class around the world to be led by a “called”, CBSI trained, discipled, and Spirit-led Class Teacher, who effectively shepherds and disciples the class leadership team.
4. To provide the same quality of training for CBSI class Leaders around the world as CBS provides their leadership teams.
5. To shepherd and encourage the CBSI Class Teachers with national CBSI conferences in their own countries, just like the CBS Teaching Directors enjoyed at the January 2008 Teaching Directors Conference.
6. To evaluate partnerships with other evangelical worldwide mission organizations and utilize the Bible Study resources CBSI already has available for them.
7. To leave a legacy of national disciples who will carry on the vision of CBSI to the next generation. Our vision is to reach the next generation NOW through the CBSI Children’s Ministry.
We’d love to have you help us! CBSI needs people to help carry out the vision – making disciples in all the nations is a big job.

Not every believer is called to be a teacher or a missionary, BUT every believer is called to be Christ’s witness to his or her world. No matter where we live in the world, no matter where a CBSI class is gathering together, the God of the impossible is able to change lives thru the study of His Word.
