History

Community Bible Study began classes in England and Peru in 1979. By 1986, there were many more requests for CBS courses overseas. Realizing that God had a great plan in mind, Community Bible Study International (CBSI) was incorporated as a separate ministry in 1992, dedicated to making disciples for Christ around the world.

During the time CBSI was a separate organization, Community Bible Study continued to support CBSI by providing office space, giving access to all the CBS Bible study materials, providing Teaching Helps for English-speaking CBSI teaching leaders, encouraging access to CBS classes for CBSI Days, Country Link, etc. for fundraising, and giving special grants from the CBS Board of Trustees.

In 2007, after much prayer and seeking the Lord for His perfect will, the CBS Board of Trustees along with the CBSI Board of Directors agreed to reunite both ministries under the Community Bible Study umbrella, effective January 1, 2008.

Since 2008, as the international arm of Community Bible Study, CBSI has almost doubled in the number of participants worldwide. We continue to expand the ministry into new countries that will be self-determined, self-directed, and self-funded.
