Peter Hanscamp’s parents were missionaries in Indonesia, but his schooling took
place in Holland. Aged 17, while at Capernwray Hall in England, he placed his faith
in Christ and soon after that migrated to New Zealand. There Peter met his wife,
Mathilde. They have two wonderful adult children, both of whom are serving the Lord
full-time. Their daughter-in-law has borne them two gorgeous grand-daughters.
In 1974 during a crisis period in Peter’s life, the Lord spoke to him about becoming
involved in full-time Christian service: first as a part-time Bible teacher and
Christian bookshop owner, then as pastor of Tamaki Community Church in Auckland.
In December 1990, Peter and Mathilde’s church sent them out as missionaries. Since
then Peter and his wife have been working in Asia – mainly teaching God’s Word –
which Peter will say is his favorite occupation! In 1995, the pair ceased roaming
around Asia and settled in Singapore.
Mathilde discovered CBSI in 1997, and soon became part of the Servants Team of a
new class of mainly expatriate women. She introduced Peter to Bette and Earl Reeves
in April 2000. Earl Reeves was the Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Region,
and before long, Earl had Peter training leaders. Later that same year Peter was
asked to consider being Associate Regional Director, and since September 1, 2001,
he has succeeded Reeves as Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Region. If you
