South America is comprised of 13 countries; nine of which use Spanish as its primary language. That leaves Brazil as the only one that uses Portuguese. However, we need to realize that Brazil encompasses half of the surface area of South America and its population is larger than all nine of the other countries combined. The largest city in South America is São Paulo, Brazil, with over 19 million people and a vast diversity in culture. As a matter of fact, Brazil has more people from different backgrounds than all the other countries. They are considered the true “melting pot” of the continent.

The majority of people in South America consider themselves Christians. However, they’re very skeptical about trying anything outside their religious background. We have been able to share Community Bible Study International with many of these countries. The countries that have been receptive to our Bible studies have grown in number of people and classes. However, there are many places that have been difficult to grow.

We continue to work hard in this amazing area of the world. Join us in prayer that, with God’s help, we are able to reach more people who will discover how God’s Word can transform their lives.
